  • notes: "Some account of the leading singers who have been heard in America during the present century. Those whose careers have been touched upon in 'Famous singers of yesterday and today' and in 'Grand opera in America' are not mentioned, except perhaps casually, in this book. The plan adopted has been to follow the histories of the various opera houses, taking each singer as he appeared in opera in America."--Pref.
